Today ended my search for ink replacements for my one pen. For the last several months I've been using one Bic ballpoint pen. It is truly miraculous that the one Bic pen has remained safe on my desk for months. But I have felt guilty, because I've received many pens as gifts over the years, some of them very nice. Tragically most are missing. (Advice: Don't give me a nice pen for a present. Between my busy life and my busy kids, somehow it's gonna get lost.) The one pen that remained within my reach was out of ink and the cartridge was missing. It took trips to three stores over several days to finally find ink replacements. But I did. And now I have one nice pen to complement my one nice mechanical pencil. Of course, I should probably buy some carbon credits to offset the imprint of my ink-replacement-effort.

I fall in love with pens so whenever I find one that works best for me, and they're usually of the cheaper variety, I buy many. It's a silly thing to stock up on, but in the event that I lose them or simply use them up, I don't have to go questing again!
In fitting with the 100 Things Challenge, I would probably count the one pen I'm using and the others as a sort of collection. It would be similar to how you are (and I am) viewing notebooks. Only the current one counts.
